Some people are hate bars and clubs, one doesn't like loud music. We are always glad to offer an alternative. Though we have many different gay spots in Moscow, but the best one definitely is a sauna.

Unlike its Western counterparts, Russian gay saunas and bathhouses have not been conceived with the exclusive purpose of facilitating anonymous sex encounters. You will be disappointed if you expect to find usual lines of private rooms with doors invitingly left ajar. The sex action is much more discreet in Russian gay saunas, it is ok to cruise others in showers or the steam-room, but the actual intercourse takes place either in the darkroom, a locked private rooms rented by the hour, or elsewhere, outside of the sauna. However, now there is a notable exception to these rules - the Mayakovska Sport sauna (see below).

 

Let's start to observe Moscow gay saunas:

VODA 

Gay-owned and gay-operated, same management as the famous the Central Station gay club. Over 6000 sq. ft. Steam sauna, dry sauna, pool, hot spa, solarium, fitness machines, darkroom, video, pool, drinks and food served in the bar, summer garden.Very crowded, the most popular gay sauna in Moscow. MAYAKOVKA SPORT SAUNA

The first Western-style sauna in Moscow. It features a bar, a small work-out area, a hammam (wet sauna), jacuzzi, chill-out with porn on a huge screen and a large darkroom with private cabins. Cruisy and sexy.

PODVAL (BASEMENT)

Gloomy basement corridor suddenly turns into a small but cozy sauna. It has everything you'll need: wet sauna, showers, dark rooms with cubicles, jacuzzi, video, bar.

(Russian: м. Ленинский проспект, Ленинский пр-т, д. 31)
Hours: until 2 a.m.
Price: 300 to 500 rubles depending on age
Directions: metro Leninsky Prospekt, walk 7 min. Exit the subway through the tail gates and walk straight ahead to the end of the street, that is, until Lenin Avenue. Turn right and walk to the tallest building on the street, the institute "on the legs". The basement door in the arch has no signs.
